Warhole in the Big Gay Art Show at Sedona Arts Center (AZ)

Danny Warhole’s piece, “Hypnotized,” has been juried into The Big Gay Art Show 2023 at the Sedona Arts Center in Sedona, Arizona.

The Big Gay Art Show is a juried art show that exhibits and sells artwork in support of the LGBTQ+ community and allies. In 2012, the Big Gay Art Show was conceptualized by a small group – some connected to the Sedona Arts Center (SAC) and others in the Sedona Pride organization. The event began as an effort to offer the LGBTQ+ community a voice in the local art scene. Since that first show, SAC has welcomed hundreds of emerging and professional artists to Sedona to share their work throughout the history of the event.

This year, 191 pieces of art were submitted for entry into the show, and 60 pieces were juried into the group exhibition. Danny Warhol is honored to be among the artists selected for this year’s show.

Speaking about the exhibition, Danny said, “I first visited Sedona when we were driving cross country on our move to San Diego in 2021. It was, by far, the highlight of our trip. The natural beauty of Sedona is unparalleled and inspiring on so many levels. It’s no wonder that so many talented artists call it home. I’m so grateful that the local arts community of Sedona has embraced the LGBTQ community and provided this opportunity to amplify our voices and connect with others through the visual arts. I can only hope that other communities around the country follow the lead of The Sedona Arts Center in developing programs and exhibitions that highlight the stories of often marginalized communities.”

The Big Gay Art Show runs from December 6 through December 28, 2023 at the Sedona Arts Center, 15 Art Barn Rd, Sedona, AZ 86336.

The opening reception is being held on December 6th from 4 to 6 PM. The gallery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from 12 PM to 5 PM.
